Flash banner creation

I know this is a "how long is a piece of string" question, but very typically speaking how long would you expect a good Flash developer to create a banner/MPU if they are provided all the artwork, and the animation is very straight-forward 'roll-over' and expandable - like the Eyeblaster example here:
- lvl_130
there is a ton going on in that example, so if you are saying that is very straight-forward is wrong.

A day or so to do the Flash, assuming no heavy video formatting/editing.
But Eyeblaster preparation is a world of Black Magic I'm not familiar with.

Sorry - I only meant that as an example of the animation, in the way it expands. There won't be any functionality beyond basic animation.

Great that's what I assumed - thanks all.

EyeBlaster is proprietary, and delivery of rollover ads depends on the media buy and who is serving the ad up.
Are you providing the FLA templates?
- harlequino0
Just to clarify, and sorry in advance if you already have this all covered - With EyeBlaster and other expanding ad servers, the expansion usually happens on the backend. One SWF gets swapped for another. Do you already have your ad server in place, or is your expectation that a developer with do this? I've worked on a lot of expanding banners and I have never heard of a Flash dev doing this.

Quick question, If I'm building a 900x500 banner using PS how come when I import my files to Library and drag to stage, they get tiny and I have to expand enlarge them? Shouldn't they be the same size if I'm using the same pixel dimensions on both? and why does the quality drop tremendously? I apologize if this is a dumb question, but I've never experience this creating banners... Thanks!

Anyone?
- thats strange, normaly what you import should be almost same qualityspraycan
- i always import png from photoshop to flash. seems better quality and better end filesize.airey
- That's exactly what I am doing and when drag them to stage, they're about a quarter of actual sizeOSFA
- you are dragging them into a movieclip that is shrunk.Frosty_spl

You want to know how long it should take you to tween a mask?
About 10 minutes. Tops.

OSFA
this should have been a whole different thread.

Sounds like your importing a PSD with a different pixel aspect ratio. Personally, I always just export out all of the image assets out of PS and never import a PSD into Flash. Sometimes if I want additional optimization I'll bring those bad boys into Fireworks and tweak. I like to get down and dirty to the pixel. Importing a PSD just never works out like how I want it to. Make sure the PSD is set to 72 dpi and crop and export all of your image assets using Save for Web.

Haha, didn't want to starts new thread with a question that seemed basic or dumb. ^no, I'm norimporting psds. I designed it ln Photoshop and saved elements as png. Then imported them to flash (library) and then I drag them onto stage. Once I do this, the image I import is less than a quarter of the stage size. Freaking weird!!

This has happened to me before, OSFA. Although I think my issue was within Fireworks. I can't remember the precise solution, but I think it may have been related to the dpi settings for the PSD. Odd, yeah I know, but I think that was it. Sorry, can't remember anymore.

Fuck, I thought it would be something dumb, but I guess it's something with my flash. I tried it on a different one and it seems to work. Problem is, all my files are in the one I can't freakin use!

I wonder if something is messed up with the container mc that you are adding these assets in? Maybe its been scaled up or down a weird amount in the transform palette? Make sure the containing mc is 100%

how are you importing them OSFA?
try saving as png from imageready, then importing direct onto the stage. outside of an MC. same problem?
