Some friends and I have created a project based around home recording. Our aim is very simply to encourage people to record their own original album at home during the month of November this year. It's not a competition, there is no prize, it's just an excuse and arbitrary deadline (30th Nov 2009) to get people who might have always wanted to record something to actually get on with it. The results will hopefully make it all worthwhile. Once finished you can upload your mp3s to a our site and they will be hosted for you. No need for any slick production or anything, can be as lo-fi as you want.
I bet there are a lot of closet musicians and recorders on here. Well this is a good excuse to make something and share it with other like-mided people.
We've already got about 40 people signed up to make albums, the more the merrier. Again, this isn't in any way commercial. just a personal project between 5 designers and social thinkers.
Check out the very lo-fi website for more info and to sign up:
http://hmtpng.com/We also have the obligatory twitter:
http://twitter.com/hmtpngand vimeo channel, where we'll have some hometapers vlogging their recording process:
http://www.vimeo.com/hometapingIf you already have some of your own music out there then post if up in this thread to inspire people, lets share our own recordings etc, and please pass this on to any budding musicians out there, or even people have never even considered recording.
If you have a blog it would be great if you pass the info on that way too, we want lots of participation. cheers! There'll be a big party at the end to share the results live too.
