So, I've been photographing product the past couple days and realized some of the items can be placed to produce suggestive negative space in the object. A buddy recommended this book, "The hidden persuaders" for ideas and to learn the general psychology behind hidden imagery.
Anyone have cool experience with this?

i remember reading this book in my first year of art college, it's fucking brilliant, even more so since it was written in the 50s and the stuff they were doing then is still in practice today. unfortunately i cant remember too many of the details (since i read it about 20 years ago) but is very much worth a read.

So, subconsciously, incorporating the idea of sex in general is considered the most persuasive when trying to develop imagery for producing ads?

The gestalt psychology plays a huge part in looking at an image, more than the subliminal bits you can add to it.
I read this book while at school (the italian version) and was extremely complete on the various aspect of the gestalt psychology:
