So. I have an idea.... dunno if it is possible but would be great if it were.
What I would like is a little app that is a stopwatch but starts when you open a job folder in FInder or a certain document, it then runs the stop watch until you close that document.
This way it can track time more exactly
Is this possible and has it been done?

Not that i'm aware of. Harvest has a stopwatch webapp and widget for OSX... but it isn't auto-activated.

i think it could be possible,
could maybe run it as a PS plugin or a CS plugin.
If no activity for a certain amount of time it stops counting, then emails you a summary at the end of the day/start of the enxt day, where it prompts you to fill in the blanks

I was thinking more of a standalone app in the corner of your screen

would it auto pause the stopwatch when you hop on QBN?

click > what are you working on
select /type project (w/ autocomplete)
click start.click lunch.
click back from lunch
click end project/end day.
add notes.email notifications.
job done.

the little app could be your boss looking over your shoulder. when he goes away you know you've finished working.

sketch pad to side of computer...
when opening file, note time
when closing file, note time
when conferencing, note duration
when working, pay attention.- yes.doesnotexist
- I wouldn't waste a sketch pad on this. maybe just write on the wall.Point5

do what i do and just estimate numbers at the end of the day
are minutes really neccessary?
- Dancer0
Estimating does not work... trust me.
and It's just an idea.I find that I spend alot of time opening files making amends and adjusting files that all that time I spend tends to get forgotten.
Minimum charging is 15mins for me

Sounds flawed. What if you're using multiple documents for one project and have some open longer than others. Would you continually have to start and stop the timer when going in between documents. Seems easier to just keep track manually. Plus, what about the time you're working when you don't have a document open (i.e. the time you're spending on project management)?
- Maybe it would only work when documents are active/at the front?Dancer

don't you all just pick numbers out of the air depending on if it's fun or not. clients a cunt. mmmm. 4 hours, nah fuck it 10. (allegedly)

used to have one in my old office, i wrote a css skin so that mind had a 1984 layout. was great.
