'I really built it that way to get right to the point, here is the work look at it.'
which is fine, as a start. nothing wrong with flash and you have the basic framework to build on now. work to a proper grid, pick a colour scheme, sort out your type, get some details in there, style your preloader etc etc...
fairly simple stuff, but itcould easily lift your site from ugly to not bad.

The tilt combined with cropping makes it hard to really get a full impression of many of the pieces, especially the web.
The background colors are not working - needs a touch of color, or maybe just greater contrast (black or dark grey bg instead of medium grey).

ok, after all the comments, I am working on this.

That's a lot of HTML emails. Is that what you want to be known as?
- to be honest, I think I have designed about 500 emailsksv123
- it's probably more then that.ksv123

work is work weather it comes as print, web, email or flash. As long as the chance to design is there, I am good.

you have some good work...
I don't see a need to be 'creative' w/the way in which you show it though (cropped and angled)...
.. it's a folio - I'd keep it simple/stupid as you don't seem to be angled toward creative development... just respectable design.
Also - the folio pieces raster quality could use some of that KY love folks have been talking about - they're a bit jaggy / visually poopy.
- check the beta site
http://kenvella.com/…ksv123 - ahhh!... better! :)
I like the homepage for sure - quick thumbnail 1-pager.PonyBoy

well you say you are good, but I found it all really dull and completely uninspiring. I'd go as far as to say that if I was a student and I was presented with this work as examples of what I would likely spend my career producing, I would almost certainly change my career path immediately. Can you not be more selective and gat rid of as much of the boring crap as possible or is all you stuff boring? Maybe an idea to expand on some larger projects.
Also, why the fuck did you display your web projects as if they are falling over and don't even show the whole page? I have no understanding as to why you would choose to do that, what did you think the benefit was?
- raskolnikov0
oh that was to the first site you posted, the new site is a bit better.

Yeah I understand that work is work and all that, but your portfolio should show you at your best. When I see a bunch of HTML emails, I unfortunately think Jr. Designer. You obviously have some design skills so I'd consider doing more concept work and label it as such. You have good assets too so why not design a full microsite? Your portfolio doesn't have to be all real contracted work.

ok, thanks

If I had time, I would.

you really need to study classic design principles dude. The site is getting better, but unfortunately youre just moving through current styles without any understanding of them or the principles that make them good, so it kind of comes off as you don't know what you are doing. your composition and type are pretty brutal most of the time, sorry...

pretty cool

I liked the format of the old site (one project at a time), but the styling sucks.
The sea of thumbnails on the Beta site makes it difficult to focus on one specific project, and navigating sucks having to back out of each project. I really like seeing more pieces within a project in this version.
I'd go back to v1, put some consideration into how it sits within the browser, and the information hierarchy in the left column. Make each project paginated so you can see more of a project that you like the style of. Definitely add some information about the project, goals, and what exactly your role was. plus credit anyone else who worked with you on it.

The Flash bit "Helping build..." looks amateurish. Add a line or two in the header or elsewhere that better matches the live text if you need to offer an explanation of some kind.
- forcetwelve0
i wouldn't repeat selected work on the menu. i'd just have print and web. i'd also space it out vertically a bit - especially more space underneath the ken vella title.
also - what's with the + design? and then you have ksv in your favicon? i think you need some more consistency in your logo/branding.

I like the font choice in your header - feels printy. If I were you, I'd set project headers in this font too. You'd be developing your site theme and highlighting the impressive brands you've worked on... worked for Hearst corporation? Say it in BIG!
Not sure the index header's animation detail adds much, but what the hey.
Really, seriously, honestly - ditch the \\'s. They .. don't do anything. Nor do they fit with the printy-ness of your main header and the simplicity of your site.
All in all, I'd say - great improvement!
- detritus0
Oh yeah - and some bloody text wouldn't go amiss.
Who are you? What do you want to do? What are your strengths (or whatever)? just a paragraph of text - not much. Set in big, to complement your header.
