What should I do?

(I'm a midweight web designer = frontend dev, design, Flash.. etc - currently working at a .net agency that has shrunk massively during recession)
1. Continue working at slowly-dying company, with great salary, freedom (not micro-managed), dull work (constantly doing support on badly-made sites done be previous employees), a mediocrity-is-acceptable-and-mon... environment, boss who is traditional media oriented and ... frustrating.
2. Find another full-time job at a better agency (smaller, so I'm not locked into one role)
3. Go back to being freelance, and kick start business with more experience (I stayed self-employed while taking this position)
4. Negotiate with current employer to work 3 days a week, giving me cashflow and time to build up business.
5. Take up landscape gardening.
What are your thoughts?
Relevant thoughts appreciated - as much as I love lolcats, fouty and the unnerving obsession with at one point the-only-girl-on-qbn, Jaline, I'd like some input from those who have been in a similar situation.
Thanks Q-chums.

Have you learned nothing from my example?

Landscape gardening is no good. Scratch that one off the list.

In my opinion.. Search for an other 'dream' job when you are still working on your dull job. When you find your 'dream' job.. Bye bye dull work.. Hello world :)
Otherwise.. You can go freelance if you think you have enough work.
Hope it helps..

I would start by removing you email and website from your profile.

I think you should try to stretch your scrotum over your face like a massive hood.
- That is an excellent idea! However, my scrotum isn't large or flappy enough. Perhaps in another decade?Mojo
- I think you should at least try to.chossy

@gramme - Let me be your disciple.
- Are you not familiar with how I lost a job over a very similar post?gramme
- Nope! Was it a good thing?Mojo
- Turned out to be good. It was awful at first, especially with wife and son to support.gramme
- I'm now doing work I enjoy more for my own clients, and making apx. 60% more money.gramme
- good to hear, gramme.akrokdesign
- The only downside is that 70% of my time is devoted to one single client. But at least they're a good one.gramme
- I'm hoping that when I'm able to hire another designer, they won't take up so much of my time.gramme
- Right now it's really tough finding time to prospect.gramme
- that's intersting. I'm gonna do it.Mojo

Pick up interesting freelance on the side, do your work and cash the check, get laid off, take the unemployment, relax, find a new job or dont.

Your best bet is to freelance while you search for full-time that doesn't suck, there really ARE good jobs out there, just takes a lot of persistence right now, that way, when you land an offer or two you have some recent freelance stuff going on and can decide if you really want to hold your clients hands all day, or let someone else do that...
