The website for "Last Day of Summer"-- a feature-length film starring DJ Qualls and Nikki Reed i DP'ed lunched recently:
http://www.lastdayofsummer-movie…You can see some footage as well as some stills from the film there.
The film was shot with 2 Panavision Genesis cameras in... 12 days. Yes. Don't ask me how we did it. Out of curiosity i can add that i came on to the project with less then one day of prep as the original DP was fired for being too slow. The very first day i was asked by the producer (a friend of mine) to drop by the set as things were not panning out right. What i saw was a disarray with camera operator lighting the set while the DP was talking on his cellphone as if everything was fine (by then they were already half-day behind). They let him go and brought me in as otherwise they wouldn't be able to finish the film on time and budget. It's not the best looking film ever but i believe it's the best looking film that cold be completed given the schedule limitations.
In mean time i updated my blow with tons of screen grabs (with lighting schematics, if you are interested):

You should consider creating a full "tutorial style" blog about lighting setups. Helpful, and a good idea you have here. You'd probably have a huge following of readers.

The is not much info about good lighting in the interweb.dequid

a simple schematics is all i'm capable of...
- Just have someone do a clean render of what you already drew. It'd be perfect.harlequino
- so my drawings are not getting love, huh?pr2
- They're fine for the most part, but can't read your writing.harlequino

Great lighting, nice contrasts, in just 12 days it's quite an achievement.
But the trailer on the site sucks, sorry.
Poor quality, buffering all the time and you have to switch off the bg music yourself...
But great work and very good idea with the schematics!

Bump, for those who missed it over the weekend.

It looks great. The shots are good looking.
But the trailer sucks with all the buffering and having to turn the background music off. Just a little venting because I'm jealous you do such great work.

everything played fine for me .. just the background music is annoying .. and i had a hard time finding that button in the lower right corner to turn it off.
it looks great though and even seems like a movie i'd watch!
very impressed .. super good job .. keep it up and let us know how it's going with the screenings and such.

well done.
turn the bg music off all together.
I know its not you, just saying.
I didn't understand the "blow" but looked all rather impressive.

This is really well done, thanks from light nerds like me.

Gracias amigos, i might be adding the stills from the remaining locations (the motel and the fast food joint are the 2 main locations) so i'll update you then with those.

the background music is so loud you can't watch the trailer. Can't you put a fade on that?

I'm sorry but how is this YOUR feature film ? Kudos to the nice work but all the feature films I have done have been a collaborative effort.
- pr2-1
Fawn, the DP gets billed right before producer and the director. So i'm the 3rd (and in actuality 2nd) in line responsible for the creative side of the film. So how is it NOt my film?
- its DJ Qualls movie damnit! ...no seriously I think most of us knew what you meant ;]molo
