If you went to a digital agency website would you expect to see blog posts or latest news..or both?
I thought a blog was more of a thought space so would be secondary to news, as thats more factual. Not saying it doesn't have its place on a homepage but was just wondering you lot thought?
Had an argument with my gigantic tool of a boss about this, of course he knows best but I'd like some clarity :)

Blogs are the popular choice.
That doesn't mean they're any good, in terms of presenting your business or gaining new clients. It just shows you have a blog.

The worst are twitter feeds, though. I'd really fight against that one.

I'd think it depends on your agency brand and positioning. 4 out of 5 times I'd say you're pretty much right on, but say you are taking the route of a CP+B, where the whole vibe is akin to a 'thought stream' of sorts. In those cases, might make more sense to keep a blog more up front and your main source of news/thoughts/ideas/etc.

ha cheers, your feedbacks much appreciated :) wanted to kind of have the blog as a place for the staff to use and show a more informal side of the agency but Fatty McMakemoney has other plans :( just need to convince the others involved to disagree with him too, let the office politics begin!

osk, disparaging your boss here?
maybe not the best idea...

It depends, I think, on the originality, wittiness and educational/informational value of the blog. Otherwise, news/press would be smarter.

we have been dealing with this.
Some agencies use a blog format to inform on new hires, news, project completions and case studies - these are usually for pr peeps and to show clients that the agency is up on what matters to the client's business. a reinforcement of knowledge.others use it to show culture and expanded mindset of creative interests and so forth.
it just depends on the goals and level of transparency the agency wants
