can someone explain to me wtf is going on here? I've been trying to watch this video about Rare the game company, they did some pretty innovative things with graphics so its an interesting company but something is up with the vid.

It says the video is 53:09 in the search...

    https://www.youtube.com/results?…

but when i click the video it changes to 9:33 then gets cut off. the comments even mention its 60 minutes.

i thought it was an adblocker thing at first but it doesn't work with it off in firefox or chrome.

    • actually i just noticed some of the comments do mention its cut off as welllodef
    • I see the entire 53 minutes.monospaced
    • How odd, it's buggered here as well (FF, Win). A shame, I'd watch!detritus

Did it. Bought the LG OLED B7, 65 inch. Xbox X. Looks great! Still not sold 100% on the look of 4K for movies/shows, it feels too 'video'. That 'film' look is gone.

    • adjust your motion settingsGuyFawkes
    • Did a lot if it last night, going to tweak some more.ArmandoEstrada
    • turn off everything. sadly these idiotic tech companies, not film makers, are dictating how films should look.inteliboy

Good luck, the Switch is selling like hotcakes. The console has so much potential for some really creative games and interactions its standard gyroscope, accelerometer, infrared motion sensor, HD rumble, 5-point touchscreen, 2 thumbsticks, detachable joycons and the fact that it's portable. Hopefully the developers start making use of these features rather than just porting last year's Call of Duty. I'd love to see a new WarioWare game for it.

    • Have you got one? Is it too big to slip into one of those Cardboard-like VR headmount things?Nairn
    • https://s-media-cach…Milan
    • Cool. Can't wait until they abandon it for a new console. ; )dopepope
    • whoa, switch VR. awesomescarabin
    • Tell me. What game was made better with gyroscope? forcing devs to make games that used the touchscreen is what ruined the vita.err
    • I just want good games I can play on a plane and games I can play in small chunks throughout my day.err
    • err, this game was all about the gyroscope and it was awesome:

    • Switch screen resolution is too low for worthwhile VR - along with the grunt needed to run it at a worthwhile framerate.face_melter
    • Surely it's more powerful than my Nexus 5 which offers a passable but not omgawesome VR experience?detritus
    • It is, but there's a huge difference between passive phone VR and dynamic VR games with tracking. Drop below a certain frame # and people start throwing up.face_melter
    • Oh sure, I don't for a second imagine Cardboardesque Switch VR would compare with 'real' kit - more as a plaything.detritus
    • Gyroscrope / Accellerometer based games are usually shit. Remember Wii? Joysticks + buttons 4 life.section_014
    • The bow aiming in Zelda BOTW using motion controls works really well. I preferred it to using joysticks. But the tilt-a-maze controls in shrines were utter shitMilan

Finished it last night. This game is something special, I'm glad Fumito Ueda, his team and Sony had the patience and perseverance to finish a game that seemed to be doomed and never coming out. And also keeping its original vision intact or at least so it seems.

The game isn't perfect, controls can be a bit frustrating at times and some areas have been frustrating to other people from what I've read. I knew about that before going in. The creator also made the beast behave like a pet and some times it feels like it's not doing what you want. It's well worth the "effort". The pacing and length was perfect.

Played it on a PS4 Pro, I heard about framerate issues on the original PS4. The framerate does dip in some areas but is not an issue on this kind of game, at least to me.

For a PS3 game that had to make the move to the PS4 it looks amazing. The environments and lightning are impressive, specially when you are on the exteriors. For anybody that has played any of the Dark Souls games the world is very much like that but on huge structures that the beast can move around. Massive vistas of where you have been before and where you are heading next. The whole thing is connected and no loadings at any time.

I'm a bit sad we won't be seeing a game like this in some time.

    • how many hours is the story do you reckon?scarabin
    • there are trophies for ending it under 5, 15 and 30 hours. I got the 30 hours one so I did more than 15, I believe it took me between 20 and 30 hoursernexbcn

Loving this game so far, the way the beast moves, sounds and looks it's incredible. No way this game could have ever been possible on the PS3.

San Francisco 1:1 recreation with Cities Skylines

    more: http://imgur.com/a/xzZoa

it's basically a more advanced new version of sim-city, and i think i'm the only one obsessed with this game here :)

    • I've tried it, but I don't have the patience to invest the time to play it properly. I just want to watch things burn.face_melter
    • Can you import GIS data into Skylines? And if you can, can you export geometry out from it?face_melter
    • I ask because I'm guessing that's how this maniac managed to accurately model an entire city - it could be helpful in my line of work.face_melter
    • you can make your citizens suffer in various ways :) but it can only import basic data like height map. no tricks it's pure building :)sted
    • https://www.youtube.…sted
    • After a bit of further reading, it seems you can import optimised .fbx files - which could potentially work very well for me.face_melter
    • but that's just for individual buildings right?sted
    • I love this game. Played it for months.monospaced
    • Don't see why it can't be for blocks of buildings / geometry. Bringing in a city block as one object is the same as a single building.face_melter
    • As long as the UV maps and textures were correct, it *should* work. May give it a test at home - I have a large portion of central Stockholm in 3D.face_melter
    • Hahhha, oh fuck. It's 75% off on Steam just now.face_melter

Steam is offering No Man's Sky refunds regardless of playtime

    Damn son.

    • Even PlayStation is giving refunds on PSN, that's badernexbcn
    • http://imgur.com/a/C…cannonball1978
    • Why?Hayoth
    • Because it isn't a complete game.monospaced
    • ^ entirely subjective. Please define a 'complete game'. And don't include balls like multiplayer - I don't care if a title has mp or not.face_melter
    • I think it's one of the best titles I have played in a long, long, time. Tired of over-saturated 'AAA' muck like The Division, Destiny, CoD, BF etc. Fuck em allface_melter
    • The only problem with the game is the price. It should be between 20-40$ not full price.elektro
    • yes it's entirely subjective, and from the point of Steam and Sony, it's so fucking disappointing they're giving full refunds beyond normal limitsmonospaced
    • elektro is right on the money. If the game was $19.99, people would be less angry (probably).section_014
    • Kerbal Space Program is $40 and it is way more complicated to play, often has shitty frame rate and a UI clearly designed for PC not consoleselektro
    • One could argue that Myst wasn't a complete game either, given its pace and apparent lack of objective.Continuity

The resource stuff gets really old after a while when you realize thats really the bulk of the gameplay. Its different than grinding in FF games because thats optional, and youre doing it earn an ultimate weapon or something like that, which you dont even need, but in this game its like multiple layers of grinding.

In this game, its grind to find elements just to survive. Grind to find elements just to fly around a planet so you dont have to walk 1mph everywhere. Grind to find each element to craft antimatter just so you can get to the next system, where you do all of this same grinding over again, just to get to the next system. Its really kind of pointless. And thats just some of the grinding in this game. You need to do tons of more grinding to upgrade all your equipment.

The game right now is like 95% grinding for elements, 5% combat. But really it needed to be closer to 50/50, so that the grinding part wasnt such a slow boring chore. But the problem is the combat is trash because you cant even barely move. This game would have been soooo much better if the combat was more like Halo, a little more of that, a lot less of the resource grinding, and I think it would be getting much better review scores.

    • thanks. you just saved me £250+hans_glib
    • you don't have to land on a planet to get resources, or buy on a space station :) harvesting while flying works tosted
