Hi,
I'm doing my (I mean, our) own wedding invites, and I realised that I've spent the last 3 years doing web design & development, and no time doing print/typography.
I'm doing the invites with Gotham in loose-spaced caps & Aphrodite Pro for names, which is looking good - but at the moment I'm trying to tackle our first names together. I like the form, but I'm not sure how to connect them in a meaningful way.
Any tips, advice or lolcats appreciated.

You're going to have to marry someone with a better name..

have you tried using ampersands from other fonts?

Both of you could change your names to Pihlydia.

- ha! - sounds like something you'd take penicillin for.bulletfactory

the capital A in 'and' is too dominant.
try putting them on 2 lines, with the ampersand in between.

does it really matter? there are a 100 more important things to consider for a wedding and I bet your invites don't get kept regardless how beautiful they are designed ('side from your folks of course)

Is your full name Phillip? Lowercase p might jive better than that l.

If you're going to stick with that typeface play around with it some more. Convert the font to outlines and work on the characters. My initial thoughts are that if you're going to use "and" make it all lowercase. I like the characters in "phil" but the Uppercase "L" looks weak -- the counters in it aren't as round. I'd consider flipping the lowercase l upside down and making it into an uppercase L for Lydia by adding a loop at the top. Play around with the letters, you should enjoy this. The other option is to find a better script font that the names look good in.

@honest - haha, well yeah, because the best work gets done with that attitude! It's not the most important thing in the world, but I'd like to do a half-decent job.
We actually use the email philydia@replete.nu to forward to both our addresses.
It doesn't have to be just limited to type though, could use form, or other effects such as transparency etc. I'm just short on ideas!
Thanks for at least looking everyone, I appreciate it.
- ..also it'll be used across the Wedding. It'd be distracting for me, if I did a shit job!Mojo

You could try sharing the last L in your name and the first L in here name. With the loops that tie in create a custom ampersand.

Or extend that 'L' to make it part of the 'y'
