It's awesome...HD Vid rocks.
Initial low light tests look great. Here's a great review on it.

The high-ISO pics aren't really low light, are they.

Id agree raf,
i find a lot of tests dont actually test in low light, but they keep the testing situation and lighting consistent so you can compare each camera fairly.Looks good though.

Gents, although the image quality won't change much (specially in the eyes of an amateur/entry level) the ergonomics of the camera will make a difference.
I've got an old 20D and the body has being designed for people using it in fully manual mode. I tried to do the same with a rebel and I found myself pressing awkward combinations of buttons to achieve the same.
Also the alloy body is sturdy enough for a heavy lens, that probably you wouldn't even dare to put on a flimsy rebel.
Still agree as it was said before that is a hell of a good tech spec for an entry level camera.

So Kappa, you got any demos? photos? videos?
I was really hoping to get a 5dMKII but with a new baby it seems like it won;t happen anytime soon. Then I thought about going for a 7D instead, save some money, yet still get a decent photo/video camera. I am not a professional photographer, it is more of a hobby to me.
Now that the 550D is out, I am liking what I see, the specs look good and the price even better. I guess my question is, should I go for it or is it really worth saving more money for a 7D?
Thanks!

B. Personally I don't feel that better control feel, a slightly better viewfinder and more AF points is worth spending twice as much. That money would be better spent on lenses/strobes/another month of rent on my studio.
- agreed... I may pull the tirgger o a 550D soon, if I don't love it, I can easily sell it....vaxorcist

What about EOS 1000D?
I thought that is Canon's entry level dSLR and 500/550D are one level up.

Anyone reccomend a good camera bag.
I have 3 lenses and want something to hold the whole lot. Nothing too big though. I don't want to lug a suitacase around.

more importantly have you seen the state of controls on the back interface on entry DSLRs?
For example Eos 550d -
The image may not get the point across,
go to a shop, pick it up and it feels horrific, no thought has gone into how the buttons feel at all, feels very cheap.i was in a camera shop and nearly all the entry DSLRs had a similar arrangement and feel. some nikons are still nice though.

- 550D is very plasticy. And Canon have had shit button layouts for years, Nikon is very good here********
- yeh i find nikon a lot nicer on the back.

my t2i arrived today (:

Keep up with reviews plz, t2i owners. I plan on picking one up very soon. I was originally planning on getting a 7D, but since I'll mostly need it for video, there's no reason to pay double the amount for a few pro-photo features (the body would be nice, but I'd rather spend the money on a follow focus and rails or a nice prime...). Right?
