many people work for nothing on their free time, either for their pleasure or for a good cause. Some even try to help by using their professional skills. See pr2 as a case where some graphic designer could give some of their free time for a good casue, using their pro skills.

Alright I honestly don't need to say it but. No http://www.no-spec.com/
In all honesty if you are running a non-profit short of asking your friends for a favor, ( and designer's do not appreciate these requests ).. or asking a student for a class credit. You're just creating a bad pr stunt for your start-up non profit in my opinion.
- And what's wrong with just asking for help from within your organization someone has to have some artistic skill.Iggyboo

Why aren't you guys willing to invest any money in this enterprise if you are serious about? Just put in a few hundred each and you could conceivably get a low end logo, website, hosting, and cover other misc expenses.
I mean cmon, you can't start a company with zero investment at all. You don't need 10,000 dollars but it can't be nothing.

In a few cases royalties given to the logo designer for everytime you use the logo. Like how royalties are given to musicians for their usage. This is a good way you can get a cheaper designer. Especially if you plan on putting this on everything from movies, websites, tshirts, business applications, merchandising, etc...
