The sniper scene is fucking annoying. Nice that they made the English soldiers are so woefully inept, and the stereotypical "I say old boy" nature of it all was almost laughable.
Very nearly spoiled an otherwise intelligent film.
- inept?? are you shitting me??? They were higly professional and took charge of the situ immediatelyKhurram
- as for the "i say old boy" - wtf you talkin about? Maybe your phased to here a UK accent in a US filmKhurram
- Are you shitting me? They all get shot straight away, and the survivors are seen hiding in a ditch drinking all the water!rascuache
- while the heroic Americans save the day, business as usual.rascuache
- Well no shit bat man. They ARE the heroes of the seen. But the UK take CHARGE and shout ordersKhurram
- and their bravery puts them in the frontline when they still don't kow who or what is shooting at them.Khurram
- I understand you may carry some by jove jingoism that you would like to see the Brits save the dayKhurram
- but it is an american film with american soldiers as protagonoists ftw.Khurram
- Not jingoism in the slightest, it just annoyed me that it went to the EXACT same place that every other US war film...rascuache
- ...goes with UK characters, when otherwise it was much more intelligent than the bulk of US shootemup moviesrascuache
- Oh, and I think most people would call is stupidity rather than bravery that got them killed, but meh...rascuache
- Well there you go. We have differences of opinion. They did take CHARGE of the situation tho, gotta give em thatKhurram
- Yeah for sure, unfortunate that it didn't last very long for them :Drascuache

Was it a War film? or a film about being completely focused on ones job beyond anything else? maybe more people here need to do that :-)
- well, that depends on what your definition of "is" is.Khurram
- did i use the word 'is'?mapsillustrated

I loved the ending when he's holding his baby he hasn't seen in a year when he's back off-rotation in small town Ameicana and he's talking to the child is all like "there's only one thing i love in this world" And then it cuts to him back in Baghdad slow motion walking in his bomb disposal suit and your left wondering:
"wait...is that one thing he loves his baby boy or disposing of bombs the mad cunt???"
it makes you fink.

I Like the piece in the supermarket when he can't decide on a breakfast cereal but he's been able to dispose of 836+ bombs. No guessing what he prefers there.

Had to do charades in class today as a lesson in concentration on self as well as others during presentations rather than just others. And communicating without words.
I had to act out "The Hurt Locker".
F my life.

Great film. But came away feeling it was SERIOUSLY over-hyped

I like the bit where after he made friends with that little boy DVD seller, and then finds the carcass of the little boy with a bomb inside his body and then later on another little boy comes up to him to sell DVDs and he walks past with this emotion thing written on his face like "I'm not going to make friends with another little boy just to find him dead with a bomb nside him!" Because despite his stoicism (apparent) he is taking emotional damage bit by bit daily being out there and it shows that human relations change in times of war.
What other bits did people like?
- I HATE YOU!!GeorgesII
- bwahaha.. :PKhurram
- The spaceship bit was awesome. That one alien looked REALLY humanoid-like, y'know?Luda
- No, that was the SAME kid. What you get from that is a sense of the confusion inherent in war.duckofrubber
- wow i think u need to rewatch some parts khurram.persona_non_grata
- It was the same kid - the kid greets him the same way.SoulFly
- ha, yeah, to be honest, i watched this very late at night on my laptop hooked up to my TV and was doing shit on the webKhurram
- web while watching it. And fell aslepp an hour before the end. And rewatched that hour the next day.Khurram
- so i might have missed a trick or two! Show you how cool it was that it STILL affected me like that.Khurram

The sentimental bullshit at the end really wrecked it for me.

A female director too. This is a big thing for my friends in film.
Brilliant film... beautifully shot, with some highly tense scenes.Nearly forgot about the sniper scene, I was of the impression the soldiers were mercenaries.
- I think it's a big thing that has helped propell it at festivals/awards ceremonies toobabaganush
- Pretty sure the soldiers are meant to be mercanaries...babaganush
- that was re: comment aboveStugoo
- it was a female director, but she was married to a male director, probably learned a lot that waySoulFly

I Loved the fact she picked up best director at the baftas, while Cameron was sitting there stuck to his seat!

i like the part when the director wasn't sure about making the film and her ex husband told her to do ti. so she did. and now they're both killing it with oscar nominations

You know why i like Katherine Bigelow?
Cos she's not some conventional chick film maker making "pretty" films about cakes and fairies and flowers an oooh its so pretty with the dresses! like that annoying little cunt face with the big nose Sofia Coppola.
She makes movies with balls cos she got balls. Other than that, i can take or leave her cannon of work.. except Near Dark, that's well good that is.
one
- To sum, i'm into chicks with balls. Nothing wrong with that. Each his own.Khurram
- wtf?
