Flash CS4 gripes

I can't believe they're getting ready to release CS5, when they never got CS4 to work right!
After working reliably for 14 years, timeline tweens are now a source of constant bugs. Sometimes, tweened elements don't change until the last frame, while other properties are changing correctly. Saving back to CS3 often corrects the problem. Updating a bitmap usually breaks a tween; any time you publish a .swf, your odds of tweens working aren't great. Masked tweens are unreliable. Most masked tweens that worked in CS3 and earlier need to be removed and recreated before working in CS4.
"Test Movie" also has new bugs and is very frustrating to use. If you use it with "bandwidth profiler" open, your stage goes off-screen. Even without it, you are likely to see a blank white stage when you test movie, it's hit or miss.
You can no longer search and replace for a misnamed font. For example to replace 'GothamUltra' with 'Gotham Ultra' you have to go back to CS3.
You can no longer see text while you're editing it if it's < 100% alpha
View as outlines is less useful than in all previous versions because many elements fail to appear.
PANELS are a huge disaster; all over the place and unpredictable. Clicking the Tools panel can make your stage disappear. Requires a reset of workspace as there's no 'stage' item in menu or keyboard shortcuts. Moving a panel makes it snap to some whacky position, for instance your swatches panel is likely to take up the whole width of your screen with giant swatches, or a blank off-stage grey area will take over, etc. Resetting the workspace is my most frequent keyboard command.
On the plus side: CS4 lets you edit the properties of multiple library symbols, all at once. Woo hoo!
I keep both CS3 and CS4 open. I need CS4 to save other people's files back to CS3 format. That's all.

Yep. I thought I was the only one getting these problems. The Bandwidth Profiler thing happens when I only use a single screen (i.e. just the MBP's screen) but the problems disappears on dual monitors. The issue with updating a bitmap is a MAJOR pain in the ass. Double clicking the symbol in the library fixes the problem.

Oh yeah, the biggest issue for e is Flash forgetting my keyboard shortcuts. It seems like it'll automatically change my shortcuts. Then they don't work unless I go back and reset them...but then it happens again.

I already ranted about this here;)

If they release the next version of Flash with everything else, you can assume it will be in August as usual.

CSS font styling with library fonts breaks in cs4.

Every day, saving down to cs3, hating it, hope cs5 is better

man i cant believe all this cs4 talk, im trying to find a few people that really made some clients happy with the lastest C Suite. I thought cs4 was just cs3 rebranded with adobe air menus lol.
Im disappointed theres new shit coming out, but it looks like we gotta mold with the times.
im gonna try to get my money up to buy this new shit so i dont gotta worry about anything. just go all over the internet on my shit cause it will be legit lol

hahah.
i'm digging the base irony that these fucks bang on about how bad the new one is and how good the old one is yet are foaming at the mouth the the new new one. if the old one's so good just keep using it ya fucking jizzmoppers.

Yeah that fucking bandwidth profiler, it costs so fucking much and full of amateurish level programming errors.
The test movie window stage height variable is the movie+the bandwidth profiler meaning if you are doing any sort of stage resizing it will fuck up your maths completely. It's like the people making the program have never even fucking used it

just part with a whole bunch of cash for CS5 when its out.
...don't worry all the problems will be solved...

Cant stand the locking windows in all these programs now. I like to look at things side-by-side, especially in photoshop and the fucker is constantly combining windows for me.

i hate it so much... more than words.

I agree, Flash CS4 is crap and is quite a bit worse than CS3 was (which was worse than CS2), though I do like how you can scroll on the properties to adjust. Flash is the only program that crashes on a regular basis for me. To be honest, for as much as it costs, all of the Adobe stuff is crap. I mean look at Dreamweaver, 500 megs for a text editor with ftp? Really? Must Acrobat crawl its way into my browser every time it updates? Indesign, when I click on a color swatch for a textfield, I want to change the color of the text.
CS5 will likely require its own dedicated 1TB drive to install and still introduce even more bugs and inconsistencies.
I really wish they would follow Apple's lead and forget the new features. Make it small, fast, stable and consistent. Please?

i hope they make AS4 so I can be a retard again.

Just compile the swfs from source and be rid of Flash CS4 niggles ever again. Need tweens, Tweenlite. Need library items, embed them.
Done.

Flash has only gotten better you sissy's... shut up and do some studying and perhaps look at other apps / languages out there and you'll see it's progressed wonderfully... ...and that you are a sissy.
