I fractured my patella and had to wear this for 5 weeks. I wish I could say I was doing something gnarly, but no. It was just a stupid freak accident that threw me off my board.
I've been skating off and on for 20+ years and this is my worst injury to date. I will slow down. I will wear knee pads. But I ain't stopping!
- Gotta watch out for little pebbles and shit. One gets jammed under a wheel and it's like a door stop.section_014
- I admire that you kept skating. I just fucked myself up so much that I stopped. Really miss it.IRNlun6
- ^ its the little pebbles that used to scare the shit out of me the most.microkorg

Walked to work and home for the first time rather than taking the car. 5km each way.
Today on the way in I noticed all the pavements are pretty decent for skating and there's a lot of downhills (and uphills too - well, it is edinburgh!).
So I went out at lunch and bought myself some big soft wheels for cruising.
Some Ricta Clouds 56mm at 78a
and bones bearings. This'll go on the Element board I put up in the attic about 12 years ago.
It currently has venture trucks and some old mini rats from the late 80s/early90s when I skated as a teen. They are something like 97a and hate little stones or rough pavements.
Looking forward to my skate to work tomorro.
#40SomethingSkater- I have those wheels! They are the best!err

- Well, todays skate into work went well. Still not 100% confident on the board but that'll come back to me I guess :)microkorg

So I should probably post this here seeing as I was all excited about taking up boarding again ....
fuct my ankle!
Went to see a Physio last tuesday and he taped it up and told me to rest it. Going to see a Chiropractor today to see what the crack is as it's still sore.Half of my commute is downhill and half is uphill. I'm pretty sure that the ankle fuctness comes from braking going downhill. Rather than putting braking foot down flat on the ground parallel to the board I was keeping my heel on the deck and only putting front of foot down which means my foot was getting pulled and twisted with the forces and tenseness.
With the uphill the pushing has been pretty hardcore too so think I've been not pushing correctly - I kind of suspected that at the time that it didn't feel 100% right/comfy.
Anyhoo, hope it manages to clear up soon. If not then that's more of a reason to get an electric one ;)
- themz are the breakz********
- adding those 2 missing screws might stabilize your ride and take away vibrations, and be more gentle to your hairy foot.uan
- What is that a 7.5"? Gotta get on that 8.25" train.section_014
