Who has watched this? Saw it this weekend and loved it. Such a different sci-fi movie, and refreshing to not see one in space. I'm actually eager to read the book trilogy called The Southern Reach Trilogy that the movie is based off (well, the first part at of the trilogy at least)
- I dug this. Had a cool look. Interesting story.dopepope
- Same! It was rental so I watched twice. Lots of neat little details.Squiddy
- Big fan of the the books and movie. I'm bummed they're not making any more movies, but I'm suprised they made one at all. The books are weird af.Cosmodrome
- Yea. Listened to the first audiobook as I worked. Movie felt very different. And I liked it much better.dopepope
- That noise when she met the copy of herself was awesome. sound effects at that whole Lighthouse scene were awesome.mg33
- MOVIE SPOILER: no one i've talked to about it agrees, but my theory in the film is that the original and copy transpose in that knockout scene.Cosmodrome
- MORE SPOILER: The original burns the place down and the copy escapes to join the other copy outside Area X and live happily ever after as weird aliens.Cosmodrome
- I believe you're correct Cosmo. When they meet, their eyes are changing. There are other clues in those final scenes.mg33
- I thought I read a thread out there about the tattoo on her arm. sometimes it is there sometimes notSquiddy
- I wasn’t really a fan. Overall it didn’t seem to get to any actual point. The interpretive dance at the end didn’t help. In no way a “thinker”monospaced

An incredible story, as they say.

Brilliantly done, considering all we ever see is the computer screen. A couple of sillier bits to stay with the concept towards the end, but still great stuff.
- lol love this dude but he doesnt age. can't see him as dad-like.Squiddy
- he does it well!MrT

Two more to highly recommend. Burning could be 1/2 hour shorter but still very good. That's a wrap from the Sydney film fest.

This is really great. Saw it on a whim, wasn't sure what to expect. It's directed by a documentarian, he gives it a vibe of authenticity unmatched in other movies. This isn't a totally new style of movie, but it is the best version yet of a new style of movie.
- I appreciated the snippets from the real... the real stupid people that did this.canoe

Couple of Scandinavian ones worth a look.

Trailer gives nothing away but this is outstanding. A fictional take based on survivors' stories, runs in real time for the 72 mins of the attack. Brilliant but stressful, to say the least.
