I'm exporting my illustrator cs3 file as a ps, then distilling- the masked tiffs I have with blending modes is just coming up as a white shape/not there.
I've tried embedding, using lo-res tiffs, jpgs, exporting directly as PDF always the same.
what's wrong with my tiffs?

ps = postscript

open the illy file in photoshop and try saving out of there?

save as an eps and then open in photoshop.

or place the eps in indesign and print from there.

dunno... i usually rasterize placed images with effects to cmyk in AI, or export large BGs to .psd

by any chance are your placed tiffs saved as greyscale? pretty sure they'd need to be cmyk to distill with effects.

they are grayscale- tried cmyk though too still the same thing
guess I'll try converting to just a masked cmyk instead of grayscale + layer + layer
- i'd just cmyk rasterize the placed tiff+layers in ai, unless they're huge dimensions.inkpink

It's a conspiracy to end print once and for all.

your problem is that you are using blending modes in illy

hmm flatted the tiff in ps and then masked it, instead of masking + 2 layers of blending. seems to be working. danke schön
