As a postscript to all of this, she seems to have done well for herself since all of this went down. Checked out her site and CV, and she's VP Digital Design (or something like that) where she works.
Good on her.

i don't have anything against minimal approaches, i just think people need to not be lazy with it. most of it is boring, looks the same and is the product of a lazy designer. i feel like turning everything into a formula serves to remove the designer from the equation and it loses its humanity. it's dull, robotic shit. seen it a billion times.
i didn't say i'm never lazy, i didn't say i don't wear black or like helvetica. you're missing my point as much as i missed the original point of the thread. i'm not calling anyone out, not declaring myself a better designer than anyone else, didn't say a damned thing about movie posters or my own work, never said swiss design couldn't "stay".

this whole thread is like my old school.... and about how easy it is to do nice design when there's NO CLIENT OR PRODUCT OR BUSINESS OBJECTIVE.... a little bit of helvetica and some pseudo-swiss layout can make "award winning work" so easy...
this stuff looks A WHOLE LOT like the stuff my old prof's did for PRO-BONO clients in order to WIN AWARDS.... trust fund bastards didn't have to do horrible things like please actual clients....
- As far as I know, being a teacher is the polar opposite of anything to do with trust funds.dMullins
- Also, I think you missed the point of this thread, my friend.dMullins
- lol @ "pseudo swiss"monospaced
- yes... uh huh.... I taught part time at art school, I knew part time faculty driving BMW's...vaxorcist
- I was broke... and doing ad agency freelance work, these guys did pro-bony work, lived in $$$ condos, etc....vaxorcist

These are almost all Brockman classics. That's why they look so good.
