My wife lost her father; my father-in-law last night.
He was a bit of an asshole, BUT a loveable asshole.
I loved him as if he were my own father because he was charming and kind when it came down to it.
We couldn't visit him the last while due to the state of the world so no goodbye's, final visits or grandchildren visit(s), just bad news and a reminder that none of us make it out alive.
