I like this freezer idea. Cold metal contracting and all that... and if that fails, thanks for the recommendation on the recovery service. I feel better using recommended businesses.

My old laptop HD failed last year. I was recommended by a computer fixer upper that a quick fix can be to put the drive in a freezer for a few hours.
This may not be exactly what you're after, and probably isn't the best solution, but it gave my Hard drive a new lease of life long enough to recover everything from it. It lasted about 6 months before it died again.

Hey, my girlfriend had an external drive fail (Seagate FreeAgent 500Gb) and there was of course some important files she needs on it...
Has anyone used or can recommend a data recovery service in London that could get the data off this?
