Anybody know how to work out the colour contrast between two CMYK colours? Im doing some signage and the text and background colour need to have a minimum of 70% contrast.
There is a couple of things on the net for web accessibility but they don't return percentage values (and are screen based obviously).
Any help would be appreciated!

convert it to greyscale... compare values... ?
just a guess. obviously that's not taking color contrast into account, but i would think signage is more about the tonal diff.
ie: red against green would be high color contrast, but would be terrible signage, and convert to a solid dark grey.

how did the people who gave you that estimate figure it out?
