If a file is called .php but doesn't have any ?php tags in it, it won't actually perform any php will it?
I've got an issue where a site that I'm working on keeps going down and the hosts are the previous design company (obviously awkard).
But they're saying that it is because php doesn't work well on Windows 2003 with asp on it... However i noticed the site was down for a bit before I even uploaded anything, and my php files don't even have any php code in them yet.

right, no php code will be executed, because the php parser won't find any. however, they might be saying that php host itself is interfering with the web server - and if this is the case and you indeed have the php host running, then it doesn't matter whether your files have any php code in them or not.

I haven't installed anything by the way.

99% of the time php sites run on apache in Linux. However, it's not that tough to run apache on Windows, just less common. Using it with IIS is a bitch though. I'd get a new host, because this one is obviously not a match.

argh...
I'd try to find any error logfiles or dr watson dumps.... and make a phpinfo(); page. see what's configured at least...
yes, you want to leave this host asap...
PHP on Win2003 can be done, but they have no incentive to help you... and it's waaay easier on unix or even recent versions of windows...

Question.... do you HAVE to get it to work on this host for some political reason... i,,e is a PHB not allowing you to move it to another host till you get it to run on this host? This sort of thing requires a conversation... otherwise you can waste months....

where is the best place to add google analytics to a php site?
I can't view the analytics to pick up. I have the script in the footer.php file. should i put it somewhere else?
Google says after the <body> tag but i can't find the body tag.

- analytics doesn't pick it up when its after the </body> tagFredMcWoozy
