this is about html support which i can find no article online... css support is all over the place but not mere html support...
===== question ======
So I'm pretty sure this is not allowed but putting a form in an email with a <form> tag and <input> tag.... Are they allowed? In some clients but not others?

bit old, but I guess it's still the same:

Sherm - code like its 1996 - lots of tables, no floats, all inline styles etc. Don't use <style> tags as they get stripped.
There've been loads about this on the PVB so do a search and it should throw up some things that'll help.

thx guys i just recieved an email from the folks at campaign monitor that more than enough major email clients strip the form tag out for me to suggest that we do not use it at all, and rather link to it.

Sherm-
mailchimp.com has some resources that are worth reading. But like Gordy says code like it's the mid 90s. You can use CSS but keep it inline. Most of the trouble I've had in the past is that the <head> gets stripped out which means any CSS in there is likely to be chopped.

its funny... i have most aspects of html email coding down packed except for this shitty form tag. when i worked for a large ESP, we totally didn't allow it.
now i work for a major fashion brand that simply doesn't give a fuck about established guidelines so i forgot about this tag.

forms rely on server side scripting to pass on the form data so understandable why it is not supported. Although I am sure there are ways with HTML5 (when it is fully supported in email programs in a decade or so ha).

No Form and no Input.
Use Zurb Foundation (http://foundation.zurb.com/) for HTML Email. It Converts a simple grid engine into fiddly Table HTML with inline styles.

This can only be a good thing, I do allot of email marketing useing Mailchimp as my main delivery service, but I have yet to look into responsive email due to the size of emails only being 600px max width, most phones can view this with out a problem, but yeah, looks good.
