Keith Fullerton Whitman - Generator (Experimental Electronic)
- sure why not.jaylarson
- Make sure you read the review, puts the whole thing in context. It's really "generative music" in the sense that he more or less sets up the machines and lets them play.ukit

Promo CD that came with one of his old 12" records...it's a DJ mix he did of his "greatest hits." Includes some great rare tracks like the Madonna-sampling "Corvette"

http://www.mediafire.com/?hmmz0q…"He's done a mighty fine job here as this really could have been a messy collection of tracks considering all the ingredients but it comes off with integrity and thankfully steers clear of what could have been cheesy re-hash of mid 90's Ninja Tune gear. There's a huge amount happening here with immense attention to detail and some serious crate digging to source samples. I'm reminded of elements of Madlib, Prefuse 73 etc. For those that like their hip-hop trippin' on mushrooms."

Nice range of fresh, epic sounds this week. Well played.

10 CD boxed set from this 70s Japanese free jazz artist who died at the age of 29 from a drug overdose.
It's somewhat epic but each link contains 2 CDs, so you can safely download just one piece of it and unzip successfully.

Interesting to consider that with the web, while many in the industry might view it as killing off music, in my view it's just the opposite.
More good music available each week (and I do pay for a lot of it despite what you might think:) than was ever available in the days of Musicland and Sam Goody.
