Right, every 6months at work we do a internal magazine/newsletter (16page a4 booklet [front, back and 7 double pages]) with info on what's been going on etc.
Having just requested a quote from the usual company we go with, they have stated £800 for 200 copies, 100g at full colour with bleed.
For a 16 page document, I'm thinking this may be a little steep. I don't know all that much about print though so can anyone spread some light on this, and possibly give me some recommendations for other companies.

Mate, it depends a lot on the quality of what you get...
I can recommend you this people here...Don't pay much attention to the crap site... they print quite well and the prices are more than reasonable. Also you can get your quote online, which will save you loads of time...
If you want something úber-fancy, you'd be better off elsewhere, tho.

That does seem a little bit steep, I presume that's probably Litho whereas for a small-ish run of an internal document you could/should probably print it digitally unless the quality needs to be exceptional.
Just try ringing round a few local companies with the spec and ask them to price it up, then ask for a sample if you're happy with the price. Sticking to smaller companies should keep the price down too.

That was digital, I've called around a few places this morning and the cheapest I've now found is 200 for £576 at 130g. That was from Prontaprint.
We've printing posters with them before, any idea on how good they are for booklets.
- If that is Digital then I was say yes a bit over the top.pillhead
