i have a budget of 100$/month for using car sharing. sometimes it cost me less than that depending how often i reserved cars during the month. That include everything, gas, insurances etc.

zipcar, in london, uk.
it's good for short term, if you're going far away and/or using for more than 3 days, consider renting a car. cuz zipcar has 60miles limit

Thanks for all the feedback.
Everyone that I have talked to says that they really like the service and that it is cheeper and easier than renting or buying.
Is there anything that you don't like about the service or was there any surprises you ran into?
Extra fees, No cars available that sort of thing.

with zipcar; pay the $75/year for the damage fee waiver

eryx, what i dont like is when there's no car available near my home. When you are supposed to take a car at 8AM but the last person is late and arrive 20 minutes later... it's rare, but it happend to me 2 times in 2 years. Long distance can cost bit, but when you compare with owning a car yourself, its ok.

eryx, i dont need a car to get to work. So If i had a car, it would stay parked in front of the house all week days and often on weekends too. Because it's easier to go to places around the city by bus or subway.
Communauto is perfect for me, when i need a car (mostly on weekends) I reserve one on their website and go pick it up at one of the parking where they put the cars, there's a lot of their cars around the city.
Owning a car can cost 5 to 8,000$/year. Car sharing is waaaaayyyyy cheaper. I pay only when I use it.
