What do you call this type of animation...

I wasn't very clear, not the Ken Burns Effect on the images. I wanted the name of the masking and motion of the floral pattern...my bad.

You touched on it: mask-and-reveal. It's almost not animation.
Why do you ask?

Something a may do for a 30second animation I have to complete, just wanted to make sure I call it the right thing when i present.

I love everything Ken Burns has done but I have no idea why he gets credit for panning across a large image when that trick has been done since the first person to ever hold any kind of video recording device.

a side note, regarding the foliage/flourish mask and reveal thing, there is some handy stock stuff you can buy cheaply from
http://www.videocopilot.net/prod…they are quite over used so you need to use them cleverly. but can save time etc... and in my experience, even tho i dont like them, if a job calls for it, clients go all wet in the painties for that shit
