... I was fed up of how slow iOS4 is so I overclocked it from 412mhz to 570mhz - it was great! For about 2 weeks...

...and then it died.

awww.... that's like adding a turbo to a crap hatchback and expecting it to perform like a ferrari. It's all ok until you have to brake.

Yeah, I should have gone back to OS3. iOS4 was just ridiculous - 5 seconds to open a text message! Unacceptable!
Now I have a dilemma - I have loads of apps etc I've paid for, so the obvious thing to do is get a iphone 4. But ... £500, fragile as glass, and .. well, £500 for a fucking phone?!?

Apple said they were going to address iOS4 crappy performance on iPhone 3G on the next iOS update

I own a 3GS with iOS4 and I have zero problems.
I think you must have done something wrong.

@benfal99 - I have a 3G, not a 3GS like you.
If I did, I wouldn't be trying to hack it in the first place - I mean wtf is wrong grrr, it just loops and crashes now..

I've refused to update my 3G to iOS4. Despite this rebellion, the phone still runs like complete and utter shit.

1 year ago, everyone on Earth was happy. Then came IOS4.

I have the 3GS (had it when they 1st came out, pre-ordered). I never had to restart it with previous versions of the OS. Since I've upgraded to iOS4, I've had to restart it at least 10 times. It usually hangs in Mail when I view a PDF or when I'm in Safari trying to view a video. In both instances, it just gets stuck completely. I can't even double click the button to get back to the Home screen. The entire phone becomes unresponsive. I have to power off and then power on again. Sometimes I have trouble with that. I still love the phone tho.

I just fixed my 2G gave it a new battery and a new aluminum back panel. It feels like a freshly restored classic car.

- I have a brand new one of those too - never used. It does feel pretty antique already.NotByHand
- Mine is getting slower it seems.Frosty_spl
- They got the design perfect the first time. 4 is a looker but has its flaws (glass on both sides, sharp edges)raf

- Jaysus...I didn't realize they were such 1:1 ripoffs. They're identical to iPhone, only interface is less refined.raf
- There are cheaper knockoffs you know?raf
- Cheaper, more stable, flash support, open source. Keep telling yourself that you love you cage, suckers ;DLillebo
- your* :|Lillebo
- I meant, if you buy a knockoff, buy a cheap one, this one isn't. Just make sure it does you no evil, allright? :Draf
- Will do. Enjoy your Apple approved apps :)Lillebo

- Corporations got us to fight for them and we don't even own their stock. We work in advertising, should know better.raf

yeah im not impressed with the upgrade, wish i never did it, only good thing is the camera speed
- robulation0
I think it depends on what apps you have installed and how many... bet if you got rid of all of them temporarily you'd see a massive speed change. Some are more resource hungry than others, some constantly run in the background without you even realising it... try it... you might like it.
