i bought a cheap samsung thinking it would be good. but over time you really start noticing problems with the colours. especially in gradients and motion. miss the cinema display now.

I second the notion of Dell monitors as an option.
Mine also has a few card readers on the left side.
They're SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than Apple and I don't notice any tradeoff.

Keep it in the family and use Apple. Though they're 3 years old, but since they're lying around, which means price is not an issue. They were great monitors back then and should be still great now.

well, after years having an iphone I must say this new Galaxy S from Samsung rocks the boat...

id say get a 27" imac :P
Ive had multiple monitors since late 90s and the 27" is the first display to come through my office that made me slim to just one. the fact that they cost about as much as a good led monitor makes it even better. As long as you notch the brightness down to 70%
- He has a better computer already, iMac makes no sense here.raf

I have a 24" smasung pebble and it's great. There's no doubt there is some colour variation from top to bottom but it's only slight.
If your on a budget they're awesome. If not dell seem to be good.

haha I love it...
"I have 2 samsungs and 2 cinema displays (free of charge), which should I use?"
"buy dell!"
"sell both and buy a convertable vw!"
"no fuck vw buy American!"
"you have four monitors but common sense says buy 2 more of another kind!"
"buy a new computer!"haha. I love you guys.
The cinemas it is.
- you weren't clear on this, everyone thought someone was using the ACDs in the other studioraf
- Well I'll be damned... I could have sworn I wrote "another studio not being used..."sigg
- I must have inadvertently deleted it at some point when I removed some words before I posted. Sorry!sigg

I think you're crazy to buy Apple monitors. They're about 50% more expensive than other brands with no benefit. I have a 24" Dell and it's been great for 3 years.
- the new 27" LED is not overpriced, though, especially when compared feature-for-featuremonospaced

You'd think another monitor company would come out with non-black models so at least they'd look like the Apple ones.
- raf0
It boggles me why no other company does hardware that just looks really good. When choosing a non-Apple monitor you usually wish for a model that is black, inconspicuous, and god please let it have a non-funny looking leg.

so you basically answered your own question.
I'd say just get the graphics series Dell monitors and sell both of those sets of shitty monitors.
