How many of you have much of a demand for designing posters? I've been reading the Hatch Show Print book about what an important means of communication they were in the past and how teams of people would show up ahead of an act to plaster a city with them in designated areas.
Do you think they are as common or as important today? Also, do you find that many local bands aren't willing to pay for professionally done posters?

Aren't willing to pay or aren't able?

Seems to me that the only way this would be a sucessful venture is if your " studio focused on that type of demand by cornering the market so to speak, with results and getting people in the doors for shows. And I'd argue that not only would musicians but bar owners and the sort be interested in making that happen for alcohol consumption of course. But results... are the results what they used to be?
- would make the musicians happy but the bar owners and the sort would be interested... sorry for typos.Iggyboo
- I say this because you have heavy competition, iphone usage, people being clueless because of using the internet too much... and movie posters are everywhere..Iggyboo
- much and movie posters are literally everywhere.Iggyboo

I have loved posters since I was a handsome kid. They have turned into something less important-ish and common these days, I think it's because everyone has access to PS and is able to "design" posters that most people see them as irrelevant. Wait, did I make sense?

I would suggest asking the folks at Gigposters.com
Many of the members there are poster designers / manufacturers / creators.http://www.gigposters.com/forums…

I have a feeling lots of local bands either do the poster themselves, get deals with designers, or get a designer friend to make them one.

Good work helps demand. Aesthetic Apparatus, Art Crank, and Poster Offensive are always successful here in Minnesota.

Unfortunately posters are much much less important now because of the internet. They're way more of a "cool" factor than anything else and have become something to hang on your wall as art instead of being used to promote shows.
Also, most of the posters you see aren't paid for by the bands themselves, but whoever happens to be putting on the shows....

I have a nephew who's good on the Photoshop. Perhaps he can create your brither's poster!
