Unless you're a real technophile, you won't end up really caring and noticing the difference 2 months later.
An honest piece of advice: buy an average 40+/-" Samsung LCD and Bluray player and call it a day. Don't overspend on a tv, it's JUST a tv. These things depreciate in value and become obsolete overnight.

I have my doubts about this, given that it takes its yellow from RGB. Whats next CMYK TV cameras?

This is what you want.

Plasmas use about 3 times more energy, but i think give better picture quality than LCD. LED is defintely the way to go if you have the cash. i think they're really come down a lot in price lately. Great picture quality and very low energy usage.

Id go with LCD for right now. But LED is the new hot shit. Only problem is its too expensive at the moment. So if you've got the loot, go with LED!

i read a review, there wasn't a big different between lcd and led.
- There is a significant difference in brightness, contrast and sharpness.duckofrubber

plasma is better if the room is bright. correct me if i am wrong.
personally, i wouldn't spend the extra cash on LED. not worth it.
later, the price will go down. then, we talking. :-)- youve got it switched around. Plasma is good for dark rooms. LCD for bright rooms.desmo

I have. 50" plasma, it produces a lot of heat so I'm guessing it yes up more power, I also have a 40" lcd, pictures not as good, but doesn't heat up as much and is way lighter, their both hitachis the 50" is 1 year older than the 40, maybe thats why, newer ones may be more efficient?

i had both PLASMA and LCD, and now i have LED
plasma- great for sports or big time movies.
lcd- great for video games
led- great for everything

i'm thinking that a 42" is a good size for my space. we're north facing so we don't get a ton of direct light but we have floor to ceiling windows which help brighten the place up. we mostly watch tv, a mix of hd and sd channels. spending wise something around the 1500 range.

its not about simply which one is better
you have to figure in so many factors such as size of screen, placement in room, ambient light in room - what you'll mostly be watching on it - how much you want to spend etc.etc
i'd look on more TV orientated forums and do some proper research.
saying all that - I'd go with LED...

time to get a new tv, which one is better?
