Meta just means beyond —ie. "Metaphysical".

For meta, there are several possible meanings. Meta can denote a change of position or condition, e.g. metamorphosis. It can also describe a position behind, after, or beyond, e.g. metacarpus. Meta ca also mean something of a higher or second-order kind, e.g. metalanguage or metonym.

Meta in italian means "Half"
I was just wondering what it would mean, if someone said
"you're so meta"???

watching a person on TV watching a person on TV is considered meta. the concept is about self-repetition on a larger scale. has nothing to do with change or any of that shit.
a person is not considered meta, only concepts or situations.
- gramme0
Your definition/example is correct scara, but the word can mean more than one thing, e.g. metamorphosis. It usually refers to something outside of, encompassing, or beyond; but it can also refer to change.
