clearly thinking about how it will work in motion (see website) but its another huge jump from a recognised brand... is this the new trend in branding - huge jumps? Surprised in such risky times.

It's not like they are selling to mass market. Their client base wouldn't pick their old logo from a lineup.

So last year: http://www.underconsideration.co…

yep I'm sorry if this is old - was just interested in seeing what people think on here as everyone is so vocal.

"Even though the logo didn’t get high marks and plenty of commenters went WTF about what the icon stood for, the overall identity represents one of the most drastic redesigns all year and in a category — global corporations — that is notoriously conservative and difficult to create something beyond a wordmark set in a sans serif and colored blue. The old logo was pathetic, even if some “liked” it. It had to go. And in its place we got an extremely refreshing and vibrant identity that adapts so nicely to dozens of different communication materials. Not only does Wolff Olins deserve credit for executing this but PwC for adopting and implementing it."

comparing the two on a strictly formal basis the old logo is a little more lively and displays much more character typographically. Unfortunately it feels rather dated - I recall seeing a collection of typography from the 1960's and 70's and seeing many similar treatments.
However, without the context of motion, the new logo is both obtuse and unattractive. I almost think that the PWC could stand on it's own without the abstract shape above it.

that is going from unique to replaceable
...I hope they animate the color pattern and have some nice jingle going with it for this modern world

There wasn't much to say back in September when it was current:

Someone should be paid to break into conference rooms and scream "shut the fuck up" over a megaphone.

i used to take the ferry in at alk harbour a lot, the pwc building was in view for 30 min but couldn't make out that old logo till you were nearly docked...

Most people don't know what PWC is or what they do.
So I think it's okay that the new logo is obtuse as well.

I honestly like it. And the applications and material that support it are very nice. There.... I said it!
