Any suggestions for the best place a photographer should be going for insurance, not only for equipment, also for everything else?

If you're part of a association for professional photographers or similar then they can usually offer better deals on insurance then a regular insurance company.
Good luck!

i don't know about the "best" place but i get mine through american family. i see you're in the uk though, so a fat lot of good that does you.
i just talked to the insurance agent that does my renter's and my car insurance, and they made up a business policy for me that covered everything i asked for. $1m liability, equipment, studio, etc.
also, at least in the usa, the big photography associations (apa, wppi, asmp, etc.) have deals with insurance companies that offer comprehensive packages. not sure what the equivalent orgs would be for you.

I got mine through Travelers. It's for liability and my equipment. Even if I just drop my camera its covered with a $250 deductible. I pay about $700 a year.
I was with ASMP for a few years, but I did not get a lot out of it. They will have deals on insurance along with B&H, Apple and some others.
