fast and icey conditions yes, but more often than not i leave it in the car. pow days just ain't the same with a plastic bucket on your head. obviously not the smartest decision but it's the truth.

Hey Fugged, I didn't realize you were in Portlandia too.
We should get a QBN Mt Hood trip in if we ever get any fresh snow.BTW is Matthew Sweet your real name? You should go by Matt so no one confuses you with that no talent as clown. JK, I still like that Girlfriend CD.
- No doubt man. That would be cool. And yeah, it is my real name. I'm not a fan at all of his music. =/fugged

I probably should wear one, but I haven't. All of the snow boarders I go skiing with wear them.

I haven't gone riding ever since I met my boyfriend. He doesn't know how. I just need to break down and teach him. I have a helmet. I like that back country pow. Better safe than sorry. It doesn't take much to rattle your melon enough to cause brain swelling. I don't wear any other protective gear, but it seems like the worst thing you could do is break your head.

I've been wearing a helmet for years and it's saved me more than a few times when I've caught a backside edge and slammed my head down on the East Coast ice. Wouldn't ride without one..

GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. -- A fall killed a 23-year-old snowboarder who was riding at Mount Hood Meadows Ski Resort on Saturday evening, officials said.
Cryblskey was riding in the Rose City terrain park at about 6:30 p.m. when he fell, a ski resort spokesman said. The resort's Web site said the park includes rails and jumps for intermediate and advanced riders.
Officials said Crylblskey went off a jump but landed wrong and hit his head on the hard snow. He was not wearing a helmet during the accident, according to ski patrol.Published: Thursday, December 23, 2010
Authorities said Sirosh caught the final lift of the evening about 9 p.m. Wednesday. He was not wearing a helmet when his body was found, English said.
He was the fourth snowboarder to die at Mt. Hood Meadows this year -- the most ever.Story Published: Jan 31, 2011 at 11:57 AM PST
PORTLAND, Ore. – A Mount Hood skier died over the weekend, an inside source tells us Monday.
The skiing accident happened Sunday, around 11 a.m., around the Mount Hood Meadows area. One skier was killed and a second skier may have suffered major injuries. However, those injuries have yet to be confirmed.
Cannard hit his head when he slammed into a tree, causing head injuries that appear to have been the cause of his death. He was not wearing such head protection as a helmet, authorities say.- Those were the stories that inspired this post, actually. In addition to the one on Mt Bakerfugged

I just started wearing one after years of being too cool for safety...

I just bought a nice cheap black one and am in the process of decorating it with a tippex pen

I'll use one if in back country and mixing it up with super steep tree/chocolate chip stuff, especially on a powder day when cat track cluff jumps are a go. The 60 degree chutes are freaky, if you loose an edge, there's no stopping you but your head and a rock/tree.
But not for the packed groomers with friends.
- Take a BD whipet with you. Total game changer for the steep couloirs.UKV

I don't wear a helmet, but I keep it in the park and never hit up huge hits. Once I start, I'll def wear a helmet. Well, if I start I should say.

We need a QBN boarding trip this year. I'm desperate to get out to Colorado. Breckinridge preferred.

I got knocked out cold in '92, woke up with a bunch of skiers standing over me.
