It's all about the Benjamins. Fuck the game, fuck team loyalty, fuck the fans, fuck legacy. Cash dictates these guys, and cash only.
- true. but at least it wasn't as self serving as lebron's departure no?doesnotexist
- ...and Bosh to a lesser extent.Andrew_D
- hasnt it always?eficks
- I bet if a rival agency paid you x millions to design, you'd take it :)desmo
- Not saying I wouldn't! Oh, I LOVE money. I just don't think there's much to discuss about the trades in the thread.monospaced
- I do hear ya though. I would the thought of MJ bouncing from team to team just for the money. Loses its allure.desmo

Why do people get all up in arms over things like this? Most professional athletes (bar maybe pro golfers) are given such a short time to make as much money as possible. It's ridiculous, yeah, but people keep showing up to games and paying their enormous salaries/ticket prices.
I don't blame any of them for trying to cash in/win trophies no matter how big a douche they are. Financially, they can set up their families for generations and when you come from nothing, that's hard to turn down.
- i like the trade. never had a problem with it until lebron made basketball look like it's not a team sportdoesnotexist
- which is why he'll never win a ringdoesnotexist
- How did he make it not a team sport? I think the media circus around him going to Miami was in poor taste, obviously.Andrew_D

It's funny all the Knick fans have woken up from a 10 yr hibernation.
If Melo and Amare can play some D this team will be a contender next year.

- They finally started having reasons to wake up.duckseason

Sad to see Felton go.
I'm big fan of Melo and Billups, so I'm pretty excited overall.
I think this will be a team to watch next season - will be interesting to see what they can pull together in such short time to try and salvage the rest of this one.

and the knickers get a pretty good bench player from us

I'm just sick of hearing about it at this point. I guess I'm a little bummed Chauncey is leaving, he was a home town hero of sorts...but hey, not super into it.
- I bet Chauncey doesn't give a shit about his hometown or his hero status. He just wants the bling.monospaced
- He actually does care about leaving Denver, he's said it many times, he didnt want to leave.CygnusZero4
- He played at CU Boulder, toosvante

@monospaced if billups starts playing sloppy the fans will hate him and he would get benched, cut or traded. no one cries about team loyalty when the fans turn on a player when they are in a slump (let kobe have a losing season and see what happens) or the front office calls for a trade so why is everyone always crying about players who opt for a better situation. they get paid so much because they fill the seats and the owners and the league earns 10x more.
there are only a few die hard fans of anything anymore. If QBN changes a policy that some users are a opposed to they'll be hoping on the next train.
People loyal as long as they are getting what they want. And pro sports is just a players job.
- I think you made the mistake of assuming I know or care anything about basketball.monospaced
- monospaced0
@tredesigns, I agree totally. I think being a fan is pointless when the fans are more loyal to a team/coach/franchise than the players themselves. I'm on the same page as you. I could care less why they are traded, all I'm saying is that money is the obvious reason and it's really ridiculous.

@monospaced, Melo is about to make 65 mil, and get to play on the biggest stage in basketball, and in the most famous arena in the world. He WANTS to play for the Knicks. That should be good enough for the fans.
If he just wanted the money he would have resigned with Denver, for about the SAME as what he's getting from the Knicks. He wants to be in NY. Sounds pretty loyal to me.
- if he was loyal he would stay with his team, but it turns out $65M changes everythingmonospaced

Hey, no one talks trash on artists making millions on disposable paintings. Melo is an artist of the physical form.
Knicks are back!
