Thanks for all the suggestions.
I'm not being lazy, it's just that time is potentially of the essence.
I think either wordpress or at a push, a really nice tumblr theme is probably my best bet. Just wondered if there was anything newer out there that might help me.I was looking at this, which is a wordpress theme:
http://emilolsson.com/apps/dynam…but more smart.
it's just to get some work samples up quickly, but will develop into a more in-depth site after
thanks

If it's not on your list of priorities, then it's not important at all. Would a prospective employer be impressed with a presentation that wasn't considered, tailored and put together with some thought and care? You should allocate an hour each day if doing it all at once is not possible. In the end, your worst client is yourself.

...or heck make a pdf and upload it to your webspace. it doesn't even have to be interactive people have scroll wheels

"Can anyone suggest a really good looking way of doing things "
Don't be a lazy bum and design, damn you.
Work a night shift or two.
White space, black text in some design font and work that speak for itself goes a long way.

I should have mentioned. I don't want it to be part of any creative network like be hance, or even krop.
It still needs to be hosted on my site
