Have any of you guys replaced your 15" MBP battery on your own? Whats the process like?
I just bought a new battery and am a bit hesitant to replace it on my own. Should I bring the battery and computer to a mac genius to do it for me? Just feeling a bit paranoid.

You have to be cautious about buying any kind of electrical knock-offs for your computer. Most of these fakes coming from China, do not have proper voltage testing. You can indeed get a product whose voltage is set too high, where you can seriously fry certain parts of your expensive computer. It will work and you've thought you got a great deal til something bad happens.- yeah but apple battery isn't that good from the start. plus they are made there too.akrok
- I would rest a little better finding these products through a trusted electronics retailer...omg
- don't mind products from China, just most bootlegs come with an inferior set of high standards.omg
- oh well, i need an other for my 15" mpb so thanks for the heads up.akrok

Anyone know of a good cheap place to buy a battery for a 2007 model MBP? What would you expect to pay?

I've been burned buying a non-apple replacement. Almost literally. It got unusually hot (even for a MBP) and made a funny sound. I decided to take it out and buy the real thing. So just a tale of caution.
I'm on my third battery.

Replaced my old MBP battery and on the same day I replaced it my logic board fails. Talk about pissing money down the drain.

Had to replace mine.
Still do, once a year, because the damn things are useless.
Costs a fortune too.I've also had to replace my screen before the first battery change. The screen were glowing in green any time I watched a video. Took a month to have fixed.
Then I had to change my graphic card.
And I've lost 3 harddrives in total now.
All been fried, or in other ways fucked, by the mbp.
2 of the drives were SSDs. Have cost a fortune since Apple blamed me for not getting their drive, so I had to pay for the new ones while still not getting the computer fixed.
One of them were an intel drive, but, not the one they sell. So...that's the excuse they gave.Just got back my computer from repair again. Another ago, for a different deal: it died suddenly and without warning. Over and over again.
Took another month to have it fixed. Out of warranty too, so...$$$.
And it's not even fixed. Even after a fresh install it gives me errors in the disk utility. So yeah. Battery. Change yours. You'll have to eventually. It's like a tax you've to pay to Apple.
And, a bit of advice, get a hackintosh next.
I'm putting together one by the end of the week. Fuck this noise. And fuck apple. Fuck them up the applehole.
