Yes, i am also looking to find a new DSLR. I would prefer one that has its own setting for taking pictures w/ a "crushed black" effect

I'm with utopian. I also chose the canon camp because most of my friends shoot with canon, which means I get to borrow and try their lenses!

If video is important go canon. If not go with whatever system your friends have (like type frame said) so you can steal their lenses.
The t2i and t3i are great, and have stunning video for the price.

Canon EOS 5D MK II
full frame over crop sensors any day. get everything the lens sees on the sensor- do you have this model?utopian
- this is more than 3x his budget, just for the body alone.tymeframe
- if you get a new one for me. i pay you 800. lol.akrok
- I do have one - but way, way over budget for this request...adumbratesly

Rebel T2i.
Fuck the T3i, it's crippled compared to the T2i. Don't let the numbers fool you.

what about the T3, im on a budget..

t2i is a bargain, the t3i AFAIK only has the flip out LCD as an improvement.

- <- This! Takes amazing photos on a low budget.
http://www.flickr.co…tymeframe - id go for a 1.4 ... even if its double the price. just wait until you have the moneyelektro
- the 1.4 is triple the price of the 1.8tymeframe
- I'm not really a sigma fan but their 50mm 1.4 is better. I have both.slappy
- lol, wait longer then, its 66%
brighter, 1.8 is still very good, but when you have a 1.8, you just want more after a while.elektro

I'd consider a Nikon D3100
http://snapsort.com/compare/Cano…I'd try before you buy, as the handholdability matters a ton, try things, get it at a store you can exchange... and see if you have friends you can borrow lenses from, and then stop thinking and reading and start taking a fucking ton of photos and you'll stop worrying about which camera....
- I have a Nikon D7000 which I totally love... D5100 is similar in some ways, but > 700vaxorcist
