there is NO way to fix the infrastructure.
I dunno that the US will collapse though. the greedy/vile politicians will find a way to manipulate the system and delay the impending doom. It's also in the best interest of the world for the US economy not to tank. If it does, china will lose all those trillions of dollars it bought.

can't find the first world problems thread so this will have to do.
I just came up finally and inherited the aeron chair when a coworker went missing for a few weeks. Here's my problem. Damn aerons don't muffle your farts like the thick crappy kind do. So now I have to try and make them all either silent or super quiet. Sucks!!!
First world problem.

Move out of the fucking suburbs, don't go to them, don't support big box stores or the suburban way of life. Buy local, work within walking/biking distance and use public transit. If we geographically condensed to the density that Europe is, we'd have no problem.
Suburban sprawl is a fucking virus; requiring people to consume massive amounts of energy on a daily basis; destroy culture and any sense of civic space; disconnecting people from their neighbors; and making sustainable, local living impossible. The suburbs are a result of a late 40's/early 50's mentality of infinite energy and need to be abandoned post-haste.

^ plash, however unfortunate that incident, it's completely trivial compared to the gigantic mess our entire country is in, and the messes we create in other countries in order to sustain our selfish and greedy ways of living.

you know, all the infrastructure doesn't need to be replaced all at once... a trillion here, a trillion there, it all shakes out eventually.

Something of this scale will take every effort to correct, many grassroots programs have changed history in surprising and powerful ways. If you have any constructive ideas, or know anyone that does, please offer them here, it can't hurt.

the sound of inevitability - once we get there we will understand what needs to be done.
