People seem to be getting a little bonkers around where i live about the Civil War sesquicentennial.
A Mennonite that lives nearby built a log cabin, just so he can burn it down to recreate order No. 11. Are people in other states acting this crazy about it too? Do other countries play dress up and pretend to kill each other because they are enamored with their past civil wars? This has always seemed strange to me and I'm wondering just how widespread this celebratory fervor is.

i went to a boarding school in Virginia. and yeah the civil war is apart of the local lands, we got to learn a lot about it. shit you could even dig in the dirt/creeks and find musket balls.
now living in Chicago; there is nothing here that i can see which has a connection to it other than a history book.
