I'm moving to a new spot, looking for some fun interior items. Stuff for walls, a new desk, other general items. Apt style is very modern.
Especially looking for a tight desk. What's out there besides the standard DWR, Room and Board, Blu Dot etc stuff?

Fab.com is really awesome for this type of stuff: http://fab.com/flh4jb
A daily deal type of thing, but very design focused.

Still keep seeing the same desks. Nothing that's just right... or it's like 6k. Trying to keep the price under 1200$, and preferrable closer to 800$.

Its tough for that price.
If you prefer wood, I would actually find a closest industrial design or carpentry school around you and ask a student to design something in collaboration.
The wood cost you around 5-600, the kid gets a good portfolio item and paying for shop rental cost would net you around additional 300-500.

Another way is to find a post modern / art deco desk to bring contrast to your surroundings.

I used to like natuzzi's furniture, but i'm affraid they look a bit too much like a posh hair saloon. Have you checked vitra?
Mind you, doing your own or asking somebody to do it for you can be a top idea.
