are you asking for options outside of kata, or do you want a recommendation for a kata pack?

you want a sling pack? i recommend the 3-in-1 from Kata backpack-
http://srv04.vantageous.com/topi…this pack can be used as a table mount while worn, also has great functionality for storage, protection, security, style. also has multiple compartments for other devices. you said you only have the g2, which is small, but dont you carry other things outside of the camera and related accessories?
Lowepro Flipside pack is also very functional and durable and stylish- http://64.207.133.62/topics/6062…

found these backpacks earlier when i browsed qbn, tx
i think i would go with sling, already have a backpack that i'm happy with, but not for the camera
the 3-1 looks indeed impressive
but the sling would be more practical for me, and i also bike alot
after all, kata seams the way to go

I picked up a few of these military/police bailout bags. Exceptionally well made & durable, relatively cheap, gives you that practical/military cred.
- what did you pick them up for exactly... what are you planning for discoman?ian
- Ha. Well one I use as a legit "bailout bag". Got first aid, etc. shut. By the door in case of emergencyTheBlueOne
- The other one I use for camera/ipad/keyboard... etc. works great for itTheBlueOne
- So wheres the one with the handcuffs and police tape?ian

This is the one I have.
It was a present and I feel bad exchange it, but it's been a couple of years I need to get rid of it

Its not a Kata bag, but I have the Incase DSLR sling bag. Its a great bag. Not to big or to small. I just wish there was a small pocket to fit an iPad.
If you want something bigger, the Ari bag is quite nice too

I've got a lowepro slingshot 202. Not exactly a messenger bag, but I like it a lot. very well thought out, swings around to your front so you can pull the camera out real quick, and has extra storage spots for your other stuff.
There's even a hidden rain protector thing built into the bottom. it's held shut with velcro and you don't even see it. nice little place to stash stuff.
- yeah, nice place to stash "stuff". read you loud and clear johnny :)ifeltdave

It's current out of stock, but Chrome just released a new camera bag:
