You gotta give it to him.. he's a mean business guy. From Bloomberg article. Almost 650% growth year over year.
"Apple stock surged 9,020 percent since July 29, 1997, the day before the San Francisco Chronicle broke news that Jobs would be interim CEO. Over that period, the market value rose to $348.7 billion from $2.06 billion."
Just insane. I don't like the guy personally due to his many bad traits and his corporate philosophy but it is without a doubt what made him/Apple successful.
He was definitely the most brilliant mind in the tech business and I don't think anyone will be able to top him in a long time.

Everyone has mad respect for what he's accomplished. Not many humans ever do what he did. He's been sick since like 2004. Obviously the end is near, but his legacy is cemented. Can't as for much more out of a life.

Remembering Steve Jobs’ Record on Workers’ Rights
http://inthesetimes.com/working/…- Nonsense. What about Microsoft, Sony, Amazon, Intel, HP, Nokia, Dell, Cisco etc etc? Apple articles = page views. Fuck journalism.inteliboy
- their environmental record is pretty crap too... all under Jobs. I wouldn't avoid the topic by redirecting it to other huge corps.********

@ Utopian. without disagreeing with you, it would be interesting to work out whether local working standards have improved since American companies have employed them.
I think that might be a fairer way of judging this situation. Workers in Asian countries have typically had shocking conditions for decades if not centuries.
The 'spate of suicides' in 2010 was actually a low number when looking at the amount of people employed by Foxconn. It seems there were 14 deaths from 18 suicide attempts in Shenzen from between 300,000 to 450,000 people. America's suicide death rate in 2008 was 11.1 per 100,000 people – seemingly substantially higher.
I'm not an Apologiser, just attempting the balance the reporting which seems to be extremely biased either way, depending on the writer's stance.

Much more to running a company like Apple than being good at industrial design. No way Ive would ever be considered for a job with so much responsibility.

Very sad. Peter Jennings died only 4 months after publicly announcing his fight with cancer and he didn't look nearly this bad. Can't imagine what it's like, but he can definitely look back at his accomplishments and impact on the world with great pride.
