Ok, so I am off to Tanzania for 3 weeks for a photography job (for promotional material for a travel company). I want to know what I have forgotten, or havent thought to take - both camera kit wise and general travel wise. I'm not too worried about weight, but I will have to be carrying most of it.
Other travel photography tips would be welcome too.
My list so far:
Canon 7d and 500d + all the lenses I think I need/ can afford + filters
spare batts
enough memory cards
laptop + back up hard drive
lots of cleaning cloths
ziplock bags
torchWhat have I forgotten?
Thanks in advance

Good question. While in Iceland for the last week there were a few things I wish I'd taken. Just taking photos for myself there, but really wish I'd had one of these full camera protectors from the rain that I saw a guy using. There was a lot of mist from waterfalls and some rain, and I was constantly using my shirt to clean off the lens. Also wish I'd had a cleaning cloth; a few times I had some crud on the mirror inside.

battery grip that takes AA battery!
+ rechargeable AA (if not just buy regular AA when you get there)
+ dust blower, brush (i'm scared rubbing dust on the lens with cloth)
+ tripod or monopod
+ cool fanny bag for quick access tools and accessories (gotta be a cool one)
+ Card reader (make sure its on your check list. i often forget to bring that)
+ Gaffer Tape, Muti tool with knife or scissor.
+ Gloves. (water proof, grip, warmth. can't press the shutter if your fingers are numb at night)
+ blue pellet... can't remember what this is called. it help you dry up all the humid inside your camera. it comes in a little aluminum case. the these little pellets are blue. put them in the ziplock bags with your camera or lens if they ever get water damage.

I'd go with 2 card readers and possibly an extra laptop.
Or don't copy over any cards.
wandering around with one set of captures is really risky incase of emergency/rain. theft etc.
I normally keep most of the gear split in two different areas. Some people also keep an emergency system boxed up ready to be fedex'd or sherpa'd ;] from wherever their main hub was.
