Adobe can release a good toolset to take advantage of canvas, js, etc. with their current knowledge. They are already starting to do it.
I welcome the death of the Flash Player, but I hope Adobe keeps releasing good tools and adapt themselves to this new environment.
- I'll welcome the death of Flash when there's a real replacement for it. I don't think anyone's close.CyBrainX

"... Adobe is working with Microsoft in hopes that Flash can eventually appear on the Windows Phone platform."

Does anyone know if browser's implentation of flash-like things in CSS/javascript is nearly as memory-leak-likely as flash?
When I browse with 27 tabs open and flash block on, I'm fine.. but if I turn off flash-block and browse a bunch of mainstream news sites with "web banners that really pop!"... it's only a matter of time before browser gets slow and flash crashes chrome....

"As part of a more efficient stack, it won't hammer the CPU as much as Flash, no."
What you've seen so far is non-Flash content that is not as rich and media intensive because there aren't that many people doing it yet. It's not as easy and designers are not going to quickly learn CSS/jQuery/javascript so what you're seeing is work that is weaker.
Thanks again Steve Jobs and your anti-Flash bandwagon.

The CyBriain critique:
1. Design: Your design sensibilities are average at best. Your site design is sterile and could barely be used to market prescription meds.
2. Functionality: The functionality on your site is nothing special that needs flash. It could be done in HTML without any problems. The only project I see that uses something that is a bit complex for html is the birthday cake project. (which is way cool btw)
3. Video: Just use quicktime or youtube and get over flash video streaming. No one wants to steal your videos so DRM is ridiculous on this stuff.
I really don't understand your love affair with flash, it is not like your work displays high levels of interactivity and tewwn morph animation.
Let it go.

tewwn = tween.

How about we discuss these issue without resorting to personal attacks. His personal website has no bearing on his opinion on the topic.

is animation part of what you do? If so, what do you recommend as an alternative. I'm not trying to be rhetorical. I think it's a valid question because Flash was a pretty good solution. Obviously something like After Effects combined with 3D would be better, but for smaller projects that can't have video, Flash is great.
I need a timeline based animation tool. Coding is great for basic tweens, rollovers and transitions, but what about something more complex?
- weight weight weight, after effect render humongous flas or you can spend days getting the right xfl weight/quality ratioGeorgesII
- Flash is horrible for animating in though. The app is a pile of dogshitanimatedgif
- Better than animated gifs ? :)fyoucher1
