Left, Bottom or Right?
Hiding on/off?I have it to the right, as the screen is widescreen it makes sense to have it occupy a thin strip to the right or left. It doesn't make sense to have it at the bottom at all. And hiding/magnify is really unusable.
Only mention it because everywhere I freelance and have to use their macs I have to move the dock from the bottom to the right.

For Mac, I'd say on the right makes the most sense. Being widescreen means you typically have more free real estate on the sides than at the top/bottom.
Right rather than left as your window actions (close/minimise e.t.c) are on the left, so having dock stuff on the right means you're less likely to fuck up and hit the wrong thing, or obscure your options.
On Windows, I still dock to bottom out of habit, but left-hand-side (as Ubuntu does) makes more sense.

He wants my DOCK!!

bottom, with hiding
it's faster to get to
plus all of my toolbars and stuff in cs5 are on the right. don't want the damn tool bar popping out of nowhere

Dock on the left, hidden. Creates a nice flow of "begin task on the left, drill down hierarchy while sweeping to the right."

left, hidden.

bottom, visible.
- yeah, bottom, smallish and no hiding for me.johnny_wobble

bottom with small icons (small enough so that they're legible), like my apps flush left. Don't hide because the transition back up is too slow for me.
I also don't use the folders to the right in the dock (i.e. Downloads / Documents, etc). Use the sidebar in Finder for my main folders and also use some app (can't remember the name of it) that allows me to have Tabs in Finder...so I only have one finder window open at any time.

Bottom, no hiding or magnification. If you have it elsewhere you're not taking full advantage of what the dock does. I use it all the time to drag a file to a particular app, or force quit a app, or use the contexual menu. If the dock is on either side of the screen, you have to navigate further to use it.
- you can do all that stuff if the dock is to the side.orpkoobcam2

Bottom, Hidden, no magnification.
I hate using people's mac when they have the magnification maxed out.
