we use a couple of zoom H4's
then sync in post with some plug-in I forgot the name of..... kind of like:

you may also try:
http://learningdslr.com/2010/12/…waaaay easier than the beachtek + XLR mics + people tripping over them + other such stuff...
- microphone placement is more important than mic quality sometimes too..... no wires helps a LOTvaxorcist

there are really better forums to get audio advice than here.
there is no one solution. what do you do? run and gun on the fly interviews? do you have a boom person that can take care of the audio? do you have mics already? if so what kind?
just did a small series of interviews. audio was as follows:
good boom mic above the speaker > mixpre mixer (for its preamps) > zoom recorder (with it's noisy pre-amps set to low).
