Strange Photoshop CS5 Bug

Hey all, wondering if anyone else has run into this and I'm working on getting a screenshot of the issue.
Recently I was working in Photshop CS5 and suddenly some of my layer masks had some bits and pieces of a completely different file in it. I couldn't clear the layer masks.
I was able to delete the layers to remove some of the fragments, but overall it was really strange. It had created column after column of ghost copy in my file. I could actually select it by Command clicking the layers, but hitting delete to clear didn't do anything.
Once I closed out of that file, I found that it had sort of "infected" the other PSD's I had open. Thus ruining those files.
2 or 3 of us on the team I'm working on have run into this now. Some think it's too many Smart Objects. I'm not convinced though as the file I was working on when it happened had no Smart Objects.
I'll post a screenshot as soon as it happens again, but has any experienced this? My searching hasn't yielded me any info.

- Everyone always asks that, but the pirated versions usually come from the same place as the legal versions.CyBrainX

Yep, we're all running legit copies of CS5. No funny stuff here as this is a proper agency we're working at.

the problem is your file, not the program.
the file itself seems to have been partially corrupted and some bits from another file have infiltrated your file.
I am sure you have a bad harddrive or some bad fragmenting going on.

I like the sound of that jon_d, but what are the odds that 3 of us are experiencing the same bug/error all at the same time with various files? Your theory seems logical to me. Just a bit of a stretch since we have the same type of issue going on.
- were all your machines purchased at the same time? do you open files from a server that all 3 use, maybe?capn_ron

What OS are you running on?

Ha, of course I would forget the obvious. Currently running Mac OS 10.6.8

Running 10.6.7 and run into this issue every couple of months. Haven't figured out what it is yet.

my CS4 work addition keeps crashing when using shortcuts or saving for web, then on restart is freezes on 'measuring memory'
Adobe has problems. this measuring memory thing seems to be issue
the only cure seems to be deleting preferences everytime. I suspect we may have some bad ram

Well the most obvious culprit might be the graphics card, depends if the errors persist when you save the file.
Try turning off OpenGL in the performance options.
