Iam looking for a hard disk that I can plug in the computer to put video files on it (.mov, .avi, .mpg) and then plug it on TV with video cable to watch those videos... Is there anything out there to do this?

I recommend this https://store.tonido.com/ but you need to get an external hardrive

i download movies to any drive, then use medialink to turn the mac into a mediaserver.
you ps3 (and i think xbox) will then detect it and you can watch the movies there, on your tv

Iam looking for something super easy to use... it is to bring movies at girl friend's house... she has no technologies out there. So, no wi-fi, no PS3, no XBOX... I would put movie files on the thing and bring it at her home to listen to them, y'know.

Bought a used 360 to keep at the gf's place for that very purpose. she has no internet (wtf right?) so I have to bring over movies and whatnot on a thumb drive but its super easy. And if she nods off early I fire up RedDead and go huntin'. Only cost me about 130 bucks. way worth it.

Use it all the time, I had the previous model too. Plays mkv, xvid, avi mov...all major codecs. MKV is the hard one to decompress. Up to full HD 1920x1080 30fps.

I use a WDTV, I'd been excellent.
